I’m thrilled to welcome you to your Somatics Toolbox. If you’re unfamiliar with the idea of Somatic exercises, they are simple enough to understand: They draw upon non-Western mind-body practices which focus on the link between physical sensation and our mental and emotional state. This includes things such as breathwork, body scans, grounding exercises, yoga, and posture exercises. As you can see, there is overlap with other areas we address in your toolbox — when it comes to Somatics, we are adding in the focus on harnessing the power of that link between the physical sensation and mental/emotional states.
As with all physical exercise, please do check with your doctor before engaging in any of these practices; if you are undergoing therapy or have history of mental health challenges, please check with your mental health professional before exploring these exercises.
